BELBIM has been constructing technological solutions that bring together enterprises and residents of the Eurasian metropolises. In 1994, the company constructed the first electronic toll collection system for public transportation in the country using its widely used inter-transportation payment tool, "Akbil," also known as the smart ticket.
After Akbil, BELBIM moved towards a more convenient and smart solution, Istanbulkart.
For nearly a decade, BELBIM has connected millions of Istanbul residents with Istanbulkart, a tool that allows them to use all forms of public transportation. In 2019, our company joined forces with BELBIM to take Istanbulkart to the next level, positioning it as the "card of the city."
Following this transformation, users gained the ability to make payments at various BELBIM establishments, including cafes and restaurants, bike rentals, parking spots, and more.
We joined forces with BELBIM with the goal of providing Istanbul residents with a more mobile-focused experience. The initial challenge was to bring all of the capabilities of Istanbulkart and more to mobile devices. With the help of the MFS Platform, we redesigned the Istanbulkart Mobile app to better serve the needs of its 13 million users.
We have been working on our MFS platform to cater to the everyday needs of modern users who rely on technology for convenience. For the Istanbulkart Mobile app, we employed key mobile technologies that can make urban living more comfortable. With the updated Istanbulkart Mobile app, users can now use their mobile devices as both a payment tool and an actual Istanbulkart card.
